Pastor Phil Skelton

 

Pastor Phil Skelton is a proud follower of Jesus Christ.  He was raised in Great Britain by Godly parents and accepted Jesus Christ at the early age of 7.  After moving to the United States in 1996, he attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.  Originally a business major,  life changed when there was a call of God to follow in his father's footsteps and become a preacher of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 

On August 22, 2010, he, his wife Tosha and beautiful baby girl Landry had the amazing honor of planting a wonderful church called Living Word Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas.  The church was their pride and joy.  Living Word was spiritually healthy and saw many people give their lives to Christ over the 9 years. Others were truly discipled and grew into a deeper faith and walk with the Lord Jesus.   On November 3rd, 2019  Phil preached his last sermon at Living Word as the Founding Pastor.  In March 2020, he returned to Living Word for almost a year to help navigate the Church through the Covid crisis.  On February 14th 2021 Lawrence Drive Baptist Church in Macon Georgia became the Skelton's new spiritual home!  Since that day Phil has pastored that Church and it has been a true blessing and source of excitement.  

Pastor Phil has been blessed by a Godly heritage.  To have a grandfather and father who were also preachers of the Gospel is truly a remarkable honor, a true blessing and an immeasurable joy.  Today, he seeks to honor that heritage by serving the Lord to the best of his ability.  The true passion of his life is to see men, women, boys and girls come to a saving knowledge of Jesus and subsequnelty grow in to vibrant disciples.  Phil loves to preach and teach as often as he can and has been blessed by many opportunities to do so. Amongst His favorite passages is the one found in  Galatians 2:19-20.  

The other great blessings of his life are  his wife of 21 years, Tosha and his 13yr old daughter Landry.  Without Tosha, he would never have made it this far.  She is an amazing believer and a constant source of strength and encouragement. They have experienced first hand the power of God as they serve Him together.  She is a faithful servant of the Lord and was an integral part of Living Word especially in its infancy and in the children's department.  Although much of her work is behind the scenes, her influence is great and her impact is felt by all.   Lawrence Drive has been blessed by her in many ways as she serves in various roles.

Landry is a beautiful young lady that loves the Lord and loves attending church.  She believed in Jesus at age six, which was an amazing answer to prayer!  She is a born leader who is destined to do great things for Jesus.  Landry loves her friends, eating with her dad, playing soccer and is very talented in art.  

In his spare time, you are likely to see Phil spending time with his family, church family, playing golf or watching football (soccer).  Going to the gym has become a necessary pastime as another of his favorite things to do is eat.  If you are a Baptist, you know that this is a perfect fit!

In the next few years, Pastor Phil's ambition is to grow in his faith and help many accept Jesus and then grow in their faith so that they can become unchained champions for Jesus.  The burden to preach and teach is still the very fire in his bones.  One day, he would relish the opportunity to speak in Great Britain and beyond as he longs too see and experience a mighty move of God all over the world.
